Former Steelers player and broadcaster Tunch Ilkin dies at 63

PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) It was announced Saturday morning that former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle turned broadcaster Tunch Ilkin has passed away after a battle with ALS.

Ilkin was diagnosed with with ALS in October of 2020 and decided to retire from broadcasting in June of 2021.

As a player, Ilkin was twice a Pro Bowler and played 14 seasons in the NFL; 13 with the Steelers and his final year in 1993 with the Green Bay Packers.

Ilkin has been a broadcaster with the Steelers since 1998 when he joined Bill Hillgrove and Myron Cope in the booth.

Ilkin was 63-years-old.
